What it’s all about…

Classroom Secrets is a fast-growing business based in Halifax who are creating an ever-expanding bank of resources for teachers aimed at the Primary age group. Established in 2013, we have quickly grown into a talented team of 50+ with over 5500+ differentiated resources on our website.

We have a strong focus on Choice, Quality and Balance and all our resources revolve around this. We create our resources based on the New National Curriculum and make appropriate links to events throughout the academic year. We have grown significantly in the past 2 years and are a reliable and recognised provider within the education community for our outstanding, quality resources that children enjoy and teachers can trust to promote progress and development in manageable, differentiated steps.

We pride ourselves on being a hardworking, dedicated and proactive team. We are incredibly passionate about helping teachers reduce their workloads and achieve a LIFE/work balance whilst ensuring children of all abilities in a class can access the same learning objectives: from the top performers to children who have yet to reach their full potential. Our aim is to inject fun back into the curriculum through innovative and jam-packed activities that are bursting with rich and exciting content, ensuring relation to the national curriculum objectives.

Requirements
What will you get up to…

Working as part of a small web development team to maintain and develop our current website

  • Troubleshoot and suggest improvements to increase performance and stability of the website
  • Day to day technical management of a growing website with increasing traffic
  • Deal with troubleshooting issues
  • Implementing new features and functionality
  • Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
  • Assist in formulating an effective, responsive design
  • Development of core website features
  • Plugin development and maintenance
  • Theme development and maintenance
  • Frontend development
  • Performance monitoring and tuning
  • Knowledge sharing and documentation
  • Change and release management

What will you bring to the table…

  • Effectively manage own workload and deadlines within the working week
  • Liaise with other team members to ensure swift turnaround of work within set deadlines
  • Treat colleagues with respect and consideration
  • Practice professional conduct across social media, especially if interacting with customers
  • Reflect on own practice as well as the practices of the company with the aim of improving all that we do and achieving excellence
  • Monitor individual progress within interim business plans
  • Ensure that all deadlines are met as stated in the company’s working calendar
  • Be proactive and take initiative when working independently
  • Contribute ideas to both business matters and website content in regular staff meetings
  • Organise and prioritise tasks according to specific deadlines
  • Proactively seek feedback to improve performance
  • Great working knowledge of the following:
  • PHP, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript, JQuery, JSON
